Obituary for Stephen Marc Trager

TRAGER- Stephen M. 65, of Waltham. Entered Eternal Rest peacefully at home on July 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Boston, he was the only son of the late Max and Libby (Garabedian) Trager. Steve leaves behind 2 cousins with whom he was very close, Joyce & her husband Howie Freedman and Cindy & her husband Gerald Meola and many other cousins, relatives and devoted and loving friends. A graduate of Boston Latin High School, he was on the debate team which won many medals. In 1971 he graduated Clark University in Worcester and began his career in the entertainment business. Steve had his own talk radio program on Public Radio in the 70’s interviewing guests among whom were Marvin Hagler, Bill Lee and Arthur Pappas. He was manager of the Paris Cinema in Worcester and Store 24 in Harvard Square He worked the past 35 years in the music/sports and entertainment business all over New England in security and merchandising with companies such as SpectraGuard, Don Law Company, Live Nation, FMI and Vendors Unlimited. He began at the Worcester Centrum in 1980 and worked other venues like the Boston Garden, Fenway Park, Sullivan Stadium, Agganis Arena and many clubs in and around Boston including one of his favorites, The Paradise Rock Club. Steve was also c0-founder of Backstage Pass Design and Printing along with Laura Nunn, producing backstage passes for
touring bands and festivals, Steve was an avid collector of many things from rock and roll t-shorts to backstage passes, to Star Trek memorabilia. A fascinating gentleman, Steve was an avid sports fan and had the ability to have a conversation with anyone about almost anything. Stephen’s family and friends would like to extend their warmest and most sincere appreciation for the care given to him by Dr. Jeffrey Wisch and his wonderful staff at New England Hematology/Oncology, especially Shannon and Wendy and to everyone on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Oncology floor for their exemplary care, patience and understanding; and a very special thanks to his Visiting Nurse Pat. Steve will be laid to rest at the Lebanon-Tifereth Israel Cemetery Route 128N (between Exit 25-Rte 114& Exit 24- Endicott St.) Peabody on Sunday October 25 at 10:00 AM. Donations may be made to the Vernon Cancer Center c/o Newton-Wellesley Hospital 2014 Washington St. Newton, MA 02462 or a charity of one’s choice.
