Obituary for George Urdang

George Urdang 87, of Peabody formerly of Lawrence, Andover and Delray Beach, FL died at Brooksby Village in Peabody Friday afternoon.
Born in New York, he was graduate of Syracuse University, he served in the army during the Korean Conflict. He had resided in Lawrence from 1951 to 1974, Andover 1974 -2003, and Delray Beach until 2013 before moving to Peabody.
Mr. Urdang was the owner of Kolsky Jewelers for 37 years. He was a member of the Lawrence Retail Trade Board and served on the Lawrence Parking commission. George also served as President of Temple Emanuel, Andover, Temple Emanuel Brotherhood, the Lawrence Veterans council and was a Past commander of JVW Post 40.
He is the husband of Enid (Lichtman) Urdang; father of Beth & her husband Arthur Shiro of Andover and Sharon & her husband Norm Costin of Lynnfield. He was the grandfather of Nicki & her husband J.R. McNair, Faryn Shiro, Jenna Costin and Ty Costin; and great grandfather of Abby and Lucy McNair.
Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road (off Route 133) Andover on Sunday March 6 at 2:30 PM. Interment in Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made at the Shiro residence following the interment until 8PM and on Monday 2-8PM with a minyan at 7PM. IN lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road Andover, MA 01810.
