Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Samuel Winic can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Samuel Winic

Samuel Winic, 94 of North Andover entered eternal rest November 12, 2016 at Ashland Farms in North Andover.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Mr. Winic served in the Army during World War II and was educated at Rutgers University. He has resided in North Andover for the past 50 years and worked as an engineer at Western Electric for 47 years. He was well known for riding his bicycle to work during all seasons for 21 years. He was also notable for his passion of all things western.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel for 50 years and was a past president. He also volunteered at Lawrence General Hospital, the Senior Center in North Andover, tutored math at the Hennessey School in Lawrence, and served on the board of Jewish Family Services of the Merrimack Valley.
He was the devoted husband of the late Edna (Bell) Winic; beloved father of Elaine Winic; dear brother of Gertrude Tessler and the late Sylvia Abramson; adored uncle of Joel & Judy Alson, Harry Tessler, Jeff & Marsha Tessler and Marilyn Abramson; and cherished granduncle of Chari Maddren, David Alson, Scott Alson, Stefanie Freinkel, Leslie Tessler and their families.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover on Tuesday November 15 at 1:30PM. Interment at Children of Abraham Cemetery, Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made at the Jacobson/Roberts residence on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 5-8PM each evening. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Congregation Beth Israel 360 Merrimack St, Bldg 5, 3rd Floor Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
