Obituary for Miriam "Mimi" Rubin (Steber)

RUBIN, Miriam “Mimi” (Steber), 87, of Newton, formerly of Marlborough & Merrick, NY, entered eternal rest on October 8, 2017. Devoted wife of the late Jerome “Jerry” Rubin. Beloved mother of Pete & his wife Judy Rubin of Solon, OH and Julie & her husband Paul Goldberg of Arlington. Adored grandmother of Aaron Rubin and Lisa Goldberg.
Mimi felt blessed with a full and happy life. She graduated NYU in 1951 with a degree in elementary education, and worked as a nursery school teacher for several years until her children were born. In mid-life she trained herself to become secretary, receptionist, bookkeeper and office manager for her husband Jerry’s architectural firm. She was devoted not only to her immediate family but also to her extended family, and to her close life-long friends. Aside from family and friends, she also loved basking in the sun, walking near the ocean, relaxing with a good book, sewing, and music from the swing/jazz era, most especially Frank Sinatra. She made everyone she met feel comfortable and special, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Services at the Goldman Funeral Chapel 174 Ferry Street (off Rte 60), MALDEN on Tuesday October 10 at 12 Noon. Interment to follow at Independent Golden Crown Cemetery, Woburn. Condolence calls may be made at the home of Julie & Paul Goldberg on Tuesday from 4-8PM and Wednesday from 6-8PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
