Obituary for Evelyn Silver (Joel)

SILVER- Evelyn (Joel)
formerly of Malden. Entered Eternal Rest on November 30, 2017, nineteen days before her 96th birthday. Born in the Bronx, NY, to her Hungarian immigrant parents Louis & Riza Joel, Evelyn was a graduate from Hunter College in 1944 with a degree in Biology and Chemistry, and became the first woman chemist hired at Revertex Co. in Long Island City. In 1946, she married her late husband Dr. Carl Silver and moved to Malden. In 1967, she earned a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern University and then worked for the Malden High School until her retirement in 1987. Evelyn also was a Past PTA President of the Belmont Elementary and Lincoln Junior High Schools in Malden. She also was a Past President of Malden Chapter of Hadassah, former board member of the New England Region of Hadassah and longtime member of Temple Tifereth Israel. She was the beloved mother of Alan Silver (Ruth Aronson), Joel Silver (Trudy Berkovitz) and Louise Silver. Cherished grandmother of Jonathan Silver (Gazeena Silver), Rebecca Silver (David Lichtenstein) and Micah Silver. Proud great grandmother of Jesse Silver Lichtenstein and Gillian Silver Lichtenstein. Private services and Interment have been held. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
