Condolences

Condolence From: Audrey
Condolence: I was reluctant to do this because I did not want to intrude on your family's grief. But I want Deane's sisters to know that she was not alone. There was an older man with her, and I held her hand and talked to her until the paramedics came. I wish I could have done more. I apologize if this causes you more pain. I hope you all find some peace

Condolence: Can't fathom the grief of this family for this needless tragedy. A young woman we can't help but to admire I was at the ceremony in Portland for UNE when she was cloaked with her white coat. My thoughts are heavy I hope to soon see the memorial in her honor at UNE

Condolence: I had the honor of making Deane's acquaintance only a short time ago. She began attending a class here in Maine and I was able to work closely with her as she become more familiar with the coursework. As I got to know her, I can honestly say she was one of the most genuine, sincere, playful, hardworking, and intelligent people I've ever met. She brought an air of openness that created instant fellowship among her peers. Funny, inquisitive, quick to laugh, she was a joy to be around. I will always remember how she had a wonderful mix of seriousness and friendly sarcasm that helped her become one of us at once. She made an indelible impression on me and every life she touched. Trying to make sense of this pointless tragedy is beyond me. The only thing that begins to unravel this loss for me is the reminder that sometimes God sends someone down who is simply too good for us here on Earth and they may need to be called home early. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. I can't imagine your pain. Please take the strength offered by your community and take care of yourselves the best you can.

Condolence: I helped build an addition on Deane's house when she was 5 years old, and I can honestly say her spirit was imcomparable even then, I would look forward to seeing her every day as she seemingly would look forward to seeing us, banging and drilling on her home. I am shocked and saddened by this senseless tragedy and can only imagine how those close to her affected. I'm so very sorry, she will never be forgotten.

Condolence: Deanne's death has been so difficult for us. We never knew her, but to lose such a wonderful person of our community as Deanne was, is an extremely sad event. The contributions that she would have made are boundless. I wish her mom and siblings the ability to cope during this most difficult time in their lives.

Condolence: Deane was in a guitar class I randomly happened to take one semester at Northeastern. I sat next to her each day and I was always grateful to walk into class and see a friendly face. She was kind to everyone, ambitious, hardworking, and talented in a variety of ways. I'm shocked and deeply saddened to hear about this tragedy. Praying for healing for your family during this time. Please know that she had a profound impact on so many.

Condolence From: Juliana Jarvis (former librarian at Vinson-Owen)
Condolence: Dear Taomi and Teva, Ever since I learned of the tragedy at the Winchester Library, I've felt a deep sense of sadness. When I learned that Deane was your sister, my heart sank. I enjoyed having both of you in library class at Vinson-Owen years ago. Teva, I remember your gentle spirit, and Taomi, I still am awestruck at the way you said your poem for Mrs. Pappas' poetry coffeehouse when you were a fifth grader. After reading the numerous warm words from Deane's friends and the community, it is clear that she was also a special person who was deeply loved. I wish I had the right words to alleviate some of the pain you are experiencing. You are in the thoughts, prayers, and hearts of many during this heartbreaking time. May Deane's memory be eternal!

Condolence: I was Deane's history and psychology teacher at WHS. I have never met a kinder, more compassionate person. She truly made teaching a joy and always cheered me up. I cannot express my shock and sadness.
