The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Edith Smolens can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Dear Karen,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother. I taught with her at the Winthrop School. I remember her as being so brilliant , and such an excellent educator. The children who were in her classroom were very lucky to have had her for a teacher.

Condolence: Karen, I’m so sorry to hear of Sweet Edith’s passing. Edith was a strong, independent, loving and righteous woman who was admired and respected by all who had the privilege to know her. Bob and I are unable to join you at her service on Sunday as we will be out of town. We look forward to joining you in thoughtful remembrance Monday evening. Her memory, along with Irving’s, will always be a blessing.
