Obituary for Dr. Aaron E. Kaye

Dr. Aaron E. Kaye, born in Boston in 1929, passed away peacefully at his home in Lexington on October 28. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 66 years. He was preceded by his parents, Harry and Minnie Kanovitz, sister Helen Tacker and brother, Irving Kanovitz.

Dr. Kaye grew up in Dorchester attending Boston Latin. He attended Colby College, NYU and Boston University. During his undergraduate years, he returned to assist his father in the butchery business at Haymarket Square. He then went on to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He established his practice in Malden. Following his retirement, he taught Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. His intellect and creativity were constant throughout his life. Dr. Kaye served in the National Guard from 1950 to 1956.

Dr. Kaye was a loving husband to his wife Shirley, and a devoted father to his daughters Brenda Klein and her husband Josh, Joanne Kaye, and her partner Nancy Sherman, and his son Eric Kaye and his wife Alyson. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Korei, Adriel and Lia Klein, Andrew and Myah Foreman-Kaye, and Hannah, Ethan and Ryan Kaye. He was a foster father to John Duckworth.

Dr. Kaye was a man of conviction, passion and integrity. He was a voracious reader, and a learned man. He had a memory like no other. He especially valued education. While wintering in FL he and his wife tutored elementary school children for many years.

He was a charitable and generous man.
