Obituary for Abraham Wolf Baron

Abraham Baron, 100, of Sedona, AZ, and formerly of Medford and Gloucester, MA, as well as West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on October 20, 2022 a life filled with Jove, giving, and kindness.

"Abe" was born and grew up in Chelsea, MA, the son of Lena and Isadore Baron and brother of Benjamin and David Baron. It was in Chelsea that he met his wife, Ruth, to whom he was married for 64 years until her passing in 2010.

Abe enlisted and served in World War II in the Air Force Division of the United States Army. He was a very proud veteran and loved his country.

Founder and owner of Baron Tire Company, with stores in Chelsea, Stoneham and Medford, he was a successful, much loved and highly respected businessman. He also developed a national truck tire service company (TTS) with over 2,000 employees whom he treated as family.

At the age of 70, Abe retired and became the oldest graduating chef at the Florida Culinary Institute. He organized tours of the Institute and provided catering services until Ruth became ill and he was her beloved caretaker. Following the death of his wife, Abe moved in with his daughter, Judith, and son-in-law Charlie Fogarty in Gloucester, where they lived happily together for 7 years before moving to Sedona, Arizona for nearly six more years. Abe left his loving imprint on both communities as well as in the hearts of so many who cherished him.

Throughout his life, Abe was devoted to his Jewish faith and was an active member of every congregation that was fortunate enough to have him. These included Temple Shalom in Medford, which he served as President, and Temple Ahavat Achim in Gloucester. In later years, he was a member of the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley.

Abraham leaves behind his beloved daughter, Judith, and son-in-law, Charles Fogarty, his son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Leslie Baron and former daughter-in-law, Janis Baron. He also leaves five grandchildren and spouses: Eric Schnell (Marci), Lauren Davison (Paul), Suzanne DiMeco (Leland) and Lee and Andrew Baron (Bethany). Eight adored great grandchildren include: Samantha, Colby and Ayden Schnell, Isabel and Juliet Davison, Chase and Baron DiMeco, and James Baron.

Graveside services will be held at Linas Hatzedeck #2 Cemetery 232 Fuller Street, Everett on Sunday October 30 at 12 Noon (masks are optional but will be available) and Abraham will be buried next to his devoted wife, Ruth. In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration of his life in person and via Zoom at the Jewish Community of Sedona and Verde Valley Synagogue on November 13 at 11:30AM.
