Obituary for Annette Burakoff (Zembler)

BURAKOFF, Annette (Zembler) Of North Andover, formerly of Haverhill, passed away comfortably & peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the age of 96. Born in Boston on March 20, 1925, Annette was the daughter of the late Harry D. and Celia (Weinfeld) Zembler. She grew up in Newton, attended college until she met and married Army Lt. Morris H Burakoff of Boston. They were married 68 years until his death in 2013.

Annette was an irreverent woman of wit, humor, insight, perseverance, toughness, kindness, and great charm. At forty years old, while still raising teenagers, she returned to college full time, For two years she drove two hours daily to complete her degree. Upon graduation, she went on to teach Home Economics for over ten years at Haverhill High School. She was widely known as a wonderful cook and equally fabulous baker, both of which she did until becoming ill just a few weeks ago. For many years after their retirements, during the Fall and Spring semesters, Annette and Morris would travel weekly to Boston, taking the T to Cambridge where they would attend classes together at Harvard.

Annette was the devoted mother of Janey S. Levine and her husband Eric, of Belmont, and Stephen V. Burakoff of North Andover. She was the proud grandmother of Noah A. Levine and his husband Jonathan Rebell, Daniel R. Levine, Benjamin D. Burakoff, Alexa R. Burakoff, and proud great-grandmother of Anna G. Levine.

Annette was a quiet leader, always tenaciously prodding and generously complimenting those around her.. She created, and shared in, innumerable experiences all of which can't and won't be forgotten. She will be greatly missed but always remembered with smiles in our hearts.
