Obituary for Beatrice "Baila" Pransky (Richmond)

PRANSKY, Beatrice (Richmond), 97, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Malden MA, entered eternal rest at her home on Nov. 17th. Raised in Malden, Baila studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, and was an accomplished singer with a love of Yiddish music. She participated in the Charlotte Temple Israel Choir for over 25 years. She was also an accomplished ceramic artist. She and her husband John moved to Charlotte in 1961 where she helped him establish Piedmont Sewing Machine and Supply Company, a successful business for 40 years. Baila was involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations. She co-founded the Charlotte Yiddish Institute, which met annually in the Blue Ridge mountains for 35 years, attracting an international audience for a weekend of culture and music. Baila and John established a scholarship fund to Camp Ramah in Georgia, enabling more children to have a unique Jewish experience.

A devoted wife to John for 58 years, Baila provided him with excellent care and a loving home especially during the last years of his life. She was a beloved mother to her two sons and their wives, Glenn and Terry, and Daniel and Sandy. She was an adored grandmother who deeply cherished the individuality of each of her grandchildren- Jackie, Lena, Natalie and Hannah – and always delighted in hearing about their lives. She treasured her siblings - Shirley, Sol, Betty, Abe, David and Trudy. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, family and dear friends, and devoted caregivers. Loving and caring for her family was the most important focus of her life.

Services at Goldman Funeral Chapel, 174 Ferry St. (off Route 60) MALDEN on Sunday, Nov. 20th at 11 AM. Masks are required in the Chapel. Interment in Danvers. Condolence calls are at the home of Glenn and Terry on Monday Nov. 21st and Tuesday Nov. 22nd, both days from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the John and Baila Pransky Family Camp Ramah Scholarship Fund c/o Temple Israel, 4901 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226 or to Hospice & Palliative Care, 7845 Little Ave., Charlotte NC 28226.
