Bernice (Rubin) Shachat Age 96, entered eternal rest peacefully on October 16, 2020. Bernice, aka “Bunny” resided at Brooksby Village of Peabody, MA formerly of Malden, Easton, Foxboro and Vero Beach, FL. She was a graduate of Malden High School and started her business career at The Veterans Administration as a secretary and later in life worked as an auctioneer alongside her husband Arthur.
When Bunny met Arthur, she knew he was her soul mate just after their very first date. They married on June 5th, 1949 and were the love of each other’s life during their 65 years of marriage.
Bunny and Arthur celebrated their second wedding anniversary, with the birth of their first son, Charles David. They enjoyed celebrating their anniversary along with “Chucky’s” birthday every year. Several years later, a second son Mark was born. Bunny embraced motherhood and was without a doubt, an amazing and loving mother, forever devoted to her children unconditionally. Bunny was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Arthur Shachat, her loving parents Benjamin and Mary Rubin and a dear sister Irene Sattin. She is survived by her loving son and daughter in law; Charles and Patricia Shachat of Lakewood Ranch, FL , Mark and Carol Shachat of Mansfield, MA and her cherished grandchildren Jessica Shachat of Nashville, TN and Daniel Shachat of Mansfield, MA. Bunny also leaves behind her loving nephews Richard Sattin of FL and Dana Sattin of ME. Bunny was deeply passionate about her Jewish faith and was a lifetime member of the American Mizrachi Women and Hadassah of Boston. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and faith. Bunny had a kind heart and was loved by so many. She leaves behind friendships that she nurtured throughout her life and later at the Brooksby Village Senior Living Community. Charlie and Patty would like to especially thank all the care workers and friends at Maple Grove. Notably, Kristie, Beverly, Joanne, and her loving aid Grace and who she referred to her affectionately as “Mama” She loved you all very much and is now at peace. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to the Jewish Council of Brooksby Village 200 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960 or Dementia Society of America at via mail or online to be made in her loving memory.
