Dave Leamon was born on November 3, 1951 in Harlingen Texas to William R. Leamon and May (Geren) Leamon. Brother to three significantly older siblings, he was raised as an only child in McAllen, Texas. As a young adult he moved to New Orleans and worked at Mercy Hospital until he made his way to New York City, then Boston MA, where he made his home.

Dave married Judy Schwartz in 1995 and in 2000 they had a son, Shane Leamon. Dave enjoyed every aspect of raising his son, with honesty, patience and grace. Through the years, Shane and Dave were a team, collaborating on various types of art projects, exploring nature, and truly enjoying each other’s company.

A good friend to all, Dave was kind, accepting, gentle and never judgmental. Forever approachable, people enjoyed his easy going ways and willingness to try new things.

Dave loved the movies, working as a movie projectionist at several theaters, but mostly at the Brattle Theater, where he became a part of a close-knit community. He was a gifted artist, creating shadow boxes inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell; his work was featured in gallery shows through the years. An avid gardener, Dave also raised backyard chickens and quail. Most recently he developed a passion for playing cigar box guitars.

Dave died unexpectedly of heart failure, on April 26th, 2023. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
