Obituary for Dorette Berman (Cohen)
Dorette (Cohen) Berman, 97, formerly of Chestnut Hill, Chelmsford and Weston, entered Eternal Rest on April 23, 2024 with her family by her side.
Dorette was born in Boston, daughter of the late Arthur & Mildred (Rudginsky) Cohen of Brookline and step-daughter of the late Morris Black. She grew up in Newton and Brookline where she worked in retail before marrying her beloved husband, Dr. Donald R. Berman, formerly of Lawrence. Together they moved first to Lowell and then to Chelmsford where she raised her children and supported her husband in building his pediatric practice. Following the death of her husband in 2009, she lived for 12 years at Maplewood of Weston before moving to Newbridge in March of 2024.
Dorette was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Donald R. Berman of Chelmsford; the beloved mother of Dr. Cynthia Berman & her husband Mitchell Greess and Douglas Berman & his wife Lauren of Newton; the step-mother of Peter Berman of Sharon and George Berman of Boston; the adored grandmother of Nathaniel and Grant Berman; the dear sister of the late Lawrence Cohen; and the loving aunt of Jennifer Cohen Long, Gregg and Melissa Cohen.
Services will be held at the Temple Emanuel Cemetery 202 Mount Vernon Street, Lawrence on Friday, April 26th at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
