Elaine Glenda (Kaplan) Bloom, recently of Lexington and formerly of Brewster, Hampton Falls (NH), West Palm Beach (FL), and Swampscott, died peacefully on June 21, 2022 at age 89.
A graduate of Lawrence High School and the third graduating class of Brandeis University, Glenda later earned a Master’s Degree from Salem State College. She and her husband Irving, who passed away in 2014, raised their children in Swampscott and founded and ran, from 1968 to 1993, Sew Right Fabrics - originally in Malden and later in Newburyport and Sanford, ME. Glenda loved the beach, history, archaeology, travel, corn on the cob, lobster and playing scrabble and cards. She was a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Glenda is survived by her three children Kenneth Bloom and wife Phyllis of Sudbury, Diane (Bekka) Bloom of Port Townsend, WA and Laurence Bloom of Newburyport, and her grandson Daniel Bloom of Bloomington, IL.
Services will be at the Temple Emanuel of Andover Cemetery 202 Mount Vernon Street, Lawrence on Thursday, June 23 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of one's choice.
