Obituary for Elinor J. "Ellie" Bromberg (Sherman)

Elinor “Ellie” J. Bromberg of Andover passed away peacefully on April 4, at 82 years of age.

Devoted daughter of the late Ethel and Sam Sherman. For 25 years she was the loving wife of Herb Bromberg, who passed away in 1993. She will be pleasantly greeted by her “one true love”, her “ number 1”, who she missed every single day since he passed. Beloved mom of Steve Bromberg and his wife Shannon of Illinois , Sue Brenner and her husband Erik of Andover and Dave Bromberg and his wife Amanda of Chelmsford. Cherished and deeply loved Grammie to Haley, Evan and Dylan Brenner, Andrew and Matthew Bromberg and Max and Zach Bromberg.

Ellie was born on 9/18/1941. She attended the University of Connecticut where she got her BA/MA in Speech and Language Pathology. She met Herb and knew right away he was the one for her. They were a match made in heaven until cancer took Herb when he was just 54. She learned to live life on her own and traveled with friends and leaned on her family. Ellie was a private person, but family always came first. She was a Speech and Language Pathologist in the North Andover Public Schools for many years until her retirement. She loved traveling and shopping for deals for her family, but her greatest joy in life was spending quality time with her family, especially her 7 grandkids, who she was so proud of.

Ellie was a kind, compassionate, considerate, and just wonderful person to be around. She always had such positive energy, never with a complaint, right up until the end. She will be deeply missed every day.

A private funeral service and burial will take place on Sunday 4/7. Shiva will be held on Sunday, 4/7, immediately following the burial at the home of Sue and Erik Brenner from 1 until 5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ellie can be made to Temple Emanuel, 7 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, MA 01810. You can also make a donation online at www.templeemanuel.net if you wish.
