FISHMAN, Eric, 62, of Danvers, formerly of Malden, entered eternal rest August 30, 2020. Dear son of the late Doris & David Fishman. Loving brother of Edward Fishman, Daniel & his wife Lisa Fishman, and Dianne Grattan. Adored uncle of Joshua Grattan, David, Joseph, and Benjamin Fishman. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jimmy Fund .

Eric was a very caring, loving, sensitive individual. His family was everything to him. He especially adored his four nephews, Joshua, David, Joseph, and Benjamin. He looked up to his three older siblings, and took every opportunity to join one or all of them for dinner. He identified very strongly with his Jewish faith and enjoyed the traditional family celebrations.

Eric was very hard-working; his expertise was in automotive maintenence and anything mechanical. He was passionate about cars. He worked on his antique Plymouth Roadrunner for over 40 years. He was restoring it up until the day of his passing. As he always liked to say, in his Boston accent, "I'm a cah guy". For his local family, he was the 'go-to-guy'. He often used his amazing skills generously to help around the house or with strange car noises.

For leisure, Eric was always traveling, taking as many as 4 trips a year. He mostly enjoyed warm locations and visiting the beaches, especially in Southern France. When he wasn't moving about, he relaxed at home, managing his investment portfolio himself, in which he was very sucessful. He also was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, watching all of the games from home, as well as attending the live events at Fenway Park with his nephew Josh, who called him Uncle Ricky because as a child, he couldn't pronounce Eric.

There will be a big hole in future family gatherings, and Thanksgiving and Passover will never be the same.

He didn’t like to say goodbye, but rather used his signature parting:

My dear nephew Eric was more like a son to me. He would fly to CA. and visit me and Uncle Dan with no notice because he knew how much we all loved and welcomed him. I was sitting at my desk in work one day and looked out the window. There was Eric, sitting on the hood of his rental car waiting for me to get out of work. Another time as we drove up to the house there he was, sitting on our front entrance.
Eric was just the light of our lives. My girls, his cousins just loved him. Debbie and he are exactly 3 months apart in age and she always called him Ricky.
I talked to him on Friday evening to wish him a happy birthday. He was enjoying himself in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He was looking forward to spend Sat with his nephews and than drive home. He as so excited and looked so forward to retirement in January to work on his cars and his home. He had his future so well planned.
This has left a hole in my heart that will never heal. I will miss him so. Love Aunt Annette

I was so sad to hear of Erics's passing. Eric was a good friend of my parents and when I met him we were both excited to find the other spoke French and that we even shared a favorite movie, The Count of Monte Cristo. He was always fun to talk to, and he will be very much missed.

Sad Day going to miss him. Eric and I always had fine conversations about our passion for the Automotive Industry. I was waiting for him to come visit me at my raceway in Pa. Life is to short. My deepest sympathy's to his family There will always be a special place in my heart he will be missed dearly. One day Lou Vetrano and I visited him and we found him lying under a backhoe he was not afraid of getting greasy. Mike Natoli RIP my friend.
