Obituary for Judith Harfenist (Lefkin)

HARFENIST- Judith (Lefkin) 87 of North Andover, MA formerly of Delray Beach, Florida, Demarest, NJ, and Nanuet, NY passed away August 16, 2022 surrounded by her devoted family. She was the beloved mother to her daughters Leslie (Mike) Hendrickson and Jody Kavulich-Harfenist and son Steven Harfenist. Cherished grandmother of Victoria Norris Maher, Matthew Norris, Dylan Norris and Lucas Kavulich. Proud great grandmother to Colin Maher. She is predeceased by her sister Rhoda Allerhand, her nephew Scott Allerhand, and her brother Gerry Lefkin. She is survived by her sister Eileen Chadwick, her many nieces and nephews.

The loving daughter of Samuel Lefkin and Lena Bogin, Judith was born, raised and educated on the Lower East Side of New York City. She was a graduate of Seward Park High School. Judith moved to Bergen County, New Jersey to raise her family and was an active member of Hadassah, B'nai Brith and Temple Beth El of Closter, New Jersey. Judith was a business manager at multiple companies, most notably Alfred Haber Associates in Palisades Park, New Jersey where she worked until her retirement.

Judith was an avid reader, bridge player, tennis player, and history lover (especially Jewish history). She loved learning, traveling, genealogy (especially her family), growing and tending her many plants. She passed all of this on to her children.

Judith's love, laughter, kindness, and friendship will live on in our hearts and memories. She will be forever missed.

Private graveside services were held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, in Queens, NY on August 18, 2022. Donations in her memory may be made to Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America www.hadassah.org/donate.
