Obituary for Judith B. "Judie" Shaevitz

Judith B. Shaevitz, 81, formerly of Malden & Stoneham, passed away on February 10, 2024.

Judie grew up in Malden, the loving daughter of the late Natalie (Pononsky) and Michael Shaevitz. A graduate of Malden High School and the Hickox Secretarial School, Judie first worked as a secretary before entering the world of banking where she managed mortgage collections at the Boston Five, Citizens’ Bank and the Medford Savings Bank. In retirement she joined TJ MAXX as a sales associate. Judie was a sports enthusiast from her early days as part of the MHS Pep Club to a vociferous supporter of all Boston sports teams. She loved popular music and musical theater as well as the Boston Pops Fourth of July celebrations. When possible she attended the guest appearances of famous celebrities and athletes in the Boston area. Her love of fashion and sense of style led to a passion for clothing and a drive toward bargain hunting making her a well known fixture at Filenes Basement. Judie was a kind and caring person and was adored by those who were fortunate enough to get to know her. She was always available to help her parents and her treasured aunts. As the middle child in a family of three girls, Judie is the beloved sister of Helene Linne and Carol & Martin Shulman, the adored aunt of Matthew & Stephanie Shulman and Carley Shulman, and the cherished great aunt of Conner Shulman.

A graveside service will be held at the Beth Israel Cemetery 251 Main Street (Route 28), North Reading on Monday February 12 at 2:30 PM. A memorial observance will take place on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at the home of Carol and Martin Shulman. A special note of thanks is extended by Judie’s family to her exceptional caregivers at Springhouse Senior Living in Boson as well as to the compassionate medical staff at Newbridge in Dedham. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
