Obituary for Sidney "Sid" Sands
Sidney “Sid” Sands, 88, of Peabody, formerly of Lynnfield and Lowell, entered eternal rest on February 14, 2021.
Sidney was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Max & Sadie Solkoff. He was a graduate of Lowell Technological Institute and served honorably as a captain in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Sid purchased Danvers Hardware in 1966 where he devoted countless hours forming relationships with customers. His true passion was his family. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was infinite. He loved taking family vacations to Florida, rooting for his grandchildren at their sporting events, enjoying pool-side barbecues and playing tennis. He always had a smile on his face and was a kind, compassionate man who will surely be missed.
He was the devoted husband of the late Edythe “Eadie” (Lipinsky); the beloved father of Michelle and her husband Mark Fain and Stephen and his wife Judy Sands; adored grandfather of Stefanie (Fain) and her husband Michael Taglieri, Michael Fain and Rachel Kerry, Eric Sands and his wife Natalie, and Rebecca (Sands) and her husband DJ Richmond; cherished great grandfather of Vincent and Viviana Taglieri and Salvatore Sands; and dear brother of the late Gladys Botwin.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association www.apdaparkinson.org
