Thelma (Zack) Loeb, 93, formerly of Andover, MA passed away peacefully May 10, 2020 at Edgewood Retirement Community.
Born on May 16, 1926 in Lawrence, MA she was the daughter of the late Pearl and Morris Zack.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald F. Loeb with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.
Thelma was a loving and devoted mother to Ina (Loeb) Jaffe and her husband Keith of Bradford, MA, Ernest S. Loeb and his wife Rita of Fulshear, TX and Judy (Loeb) Smith and her husband Martin of Rye, NH.
She was a cherished grandmother to Evan Paul Jaffe and his wife Nicole, Heather Dawn Jaffe, Lyle Martin Smith and Austin Gerald Loeb and a great grandmother to Stefanos Edward Jaffe.
A dear sister to the late Eva Weisner, Harold Zack and Sylvia Zack and she was adored by her niece Myrna Promer and her family of Portsmouth, NH and nephew Robert Weisner and his family of Seabrook, NH.
Thelma graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943. She often worked after school at her parents store Zack’s Variety on the corner of Park and Eutaw Streets in Lawrence, MA. After High School she worked for Western Electric Company for 10 years as an Order Analyst and spent many years volunteering for the American Red Cross and the Andover Middle School District as a math teacher’s aide.
She married Gerald F. Loeb in February of 1948 and raised their three children in a loving home in Andover, MA.
She was a member of Temple Emanuel in Andover for 74 years as well as a member of the Temple Sisterhood and Hadassah Society.
She loved classical music, had a weakness for sweets and always wanted to be near her family who loved her dearly and will miss her very much.
Due to social distancing restrictions, services and memorial week will be private.
