Obituary for Leopoldo Guggenheim

GUGGENHEIM, Leopoldo, 88, of Salem, NH entered eternal rest on September16, 2015. The Board of Directors, Officers, Partners and entire staff of Joseph’s Middle East Bakery, Inc. deeply mourn the death of Leopoldo Guggenheim their partner and friend. As President and as one of its principal owners, he was heavily involved in the development, marketing, and success of many of Joseph’s products during the last 43 years, as well as being a mentor and friend of many of Joseph’s employees.
He was born in Santiago, Chile in 1927 and graduated from Lowell technological Institute where he received an Engineering Degree in Textile Engineering. After returning to Chile in 1949, he managed a number of businesses primarily concentrating in the flour milling business in Chile. After leaving Chile with his family in 1970, he lived in Spain and Germany until 1974 when he came permanently to the United States and joined the owners of Joseph’s as an officer and owner.
Leopoldo is survived by his beloved wife Gerda of 62 years, his son José and daughter Gisela, as well as, granddaughter Elizabeth and 5 grandchildren Joseph, Gregory, Andrew, Stefan, and Kristof, and his sister Hughette of Santiago Chile.
Private Services at the West Parish Garden Cemetery 129 Reservation Road, Andover on Thursday September 17 at 2:00PM. Memorial week will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice.
