Condolences

Condolence From: Nephew Danny Garbett
Condolence: I'm sure right now my mother Dorothy and Aunt Rose are forcing Uncle Jack to eat, telling him that he's all skin and bones. And although he is saying no, that he's full and graciously refusing extra helpings, his beloved, exceptionally stubborn sisters continue to pile large heaps of kugel, mashed potatoes, salmon croquettes, kreplach, knishes, and corn niblets on his plate. And of course, followed by strudel and brownies for dessert, along with with the infamous, "Nice" cup of tea.
There are no words to fully express the loss and sadness I feel in our now very small family. All my Aunts have passed- and Uncle Jack was the last Uncle, the remaining thread to all the dear family members who had gone before. The link to memories of Revere, to my childhood, and to our family history and experiences. A bond to a generation and chapter I hoped would never close. I will very much miss his gentle, caring ways and always refined nature. I so enjoyed our conversations-we talked of everything and nothing, and always he was well-spoken, knowledgeable and articulate. His smile and laugh will stay with me always. I will forever cherish our times together, continually wishing for just one more. And although genuinely heartbroken, I will take some small measure of comfort in knowing that never, never again will Uncle Jack ever go hungry.
