Obituary for Loeb Katz

Loeb Katz 82, of Boca Raton FL and Swampscott died on Tuesday evening May 17.
Born in Beverly, he was a graduate of Malden High School and attended University of Miami. He served in the Army from 1953-1956.
In 1956, with $25 in his pocket, he founded New England Serum Company, now known as PetEdge. In 1995, the Katz family sold its chain of Just for Pet superstores to Petco.
Mr. Katz had resided in the Marblehead Swampscott area since 1963 and has also maintained a home in Boca Raton since 1988.
A member of Temple Emanuel Andover, he was also a past member of Kernwood Country Club in Salem and Temple Emanu-El of Marblehead.
Mr. Katz was the devoted husband of Natalie (Simon) Katz; beloved father of Andrew Katz & his wife Laura Hillman and Debi Katz Marrow & her husband Joseph Marrow; cherished grandfather of Rebecca Marrow, Abby, Joshua and Zoe Katz and dear brother of Solomon Katz and Paula Helzner.

Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road (off Route 133) Andover on Monday May 23 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made following the interment at the home of Debi & Joe Marrow until 8PM; continuing Tuesday 3-5PM and 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation PO Box 501 Hagerstown, MD 21741 or a charity of one’s choice.
