96, of St. Paul MN formerly of Boynton Beach, FL, Akron, OH, Andover, Lawrence, Boston and Portland, ME. Entered Eternal Rest peacefully on November 27, 2016
He is survived by his children, Susan Simonds of Moscow, ID, Nina Simonds of Salem, MA, Joel Simonds of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Simonds of Minneapolis, MN, and his grandchildren, Jesse Rose, Liana Simonds, and Jonah Simonds.
He was predeceased by his wife, Miriam (Mimi) Charef Simonds; his ex-wife, Cecelia Clark; and his partner, Naomi (Nimi) Orgel.
He was born in Portland, ME, and attended the School of Journalism of the University of Missouri and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He had a long career in advertising, including as Director of Advertising for Sutherland’s Department Store in Lawrence, MA; Director of Advertising for Bolta Products in Lawrence, MA, and Director of Advertising for the Plastics and Chemical Division of the General Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, OH.
Mr. Simonds was known for his humor, his stories, and his zest for life. His spirit will live on in his book, My Life Stories, a compilation of his favorite tales published this month.
Services at Goldman Funeral Chapel 174 Ferry St. MALDEN on Thursday December 1 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
