Obituary for Mildred Cecile Spector (Block)

Mildred C. (Block) Spector 100, died at the Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover on Tuesday morning December 6. Born in Lawrence, Mrs. Spector’s family moved to Medford when she was 2 years old, where she attended school and graduated Medford High School. In 1939, after the death of her father, the family then moved to Winthrop. Mildred worked for Gilchrist’s department store as a personal shopper from 1938 until 1952, she married her late husband Louis Spector in 1951. Her career also included many years as a bookkeeper for Amore Hearing consultants. She was active at the Lawrence Jewish Community Center, Sisterhood of Tifereth Anshai Sfard & Sons of Israel Synagogue, Lawrence where she also was the librarian and Congregation Beth Israel.
Mrs. Spector is survived by her children, Joseph Spector, Dr. Leonard & his wife Barbara Spector and Howard & his wife Tina Spector; her grandchildren Bethany & her husband Christopher Mulla, Amanda Spector & her husband Peter Jenkins, Samuel & his wife Janelle Spector, Cassandra Spector and a great grandson Zachary Mulla.
Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road Andover on Thursday December 8 at 1:30PM. Interment in Children of Abraham Cemetery, Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made following the interment at the home of Howard & Tina Spector until 8PM, Friday 1-4PM and Saturday evening 6-9PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Congregation Beth Israel 360 Merrimack St. Building 5, 3rd Floor, Lawrence, MA. 01843.
