So very sorry to hear of Doreen's passing. She was such a special friend and colleague -- way ahead of her time as an HR manager and a vivacious, strong-willed, intelligent lady. Her judgement was almost always flawless, and as Bob Jasse once told me (and her), she knew the difficult art of balancing justice and charity. And of course, she was a great entertainer and story-teller, who seemed to remember every little detail of all the crazy happenings during her Chomerics career. I will truly miss her -- as will (I'm sure) all the folks she entertained as a pianist and belly dancer (!) and all the Chomerics colleagues who loved her. I will pass this sad news along to those I'm still in touch with.

The last time I called Doreen we had a wonderful conversation, reminiscing about
dance classes and especially the day a few years ago she performed with our troupe at the Stoneham Health Fair on stage at the High School
- she danced to a song she had dreamed of dancing to.... a Frank Sinatra song "The Lady is a Star". As she had requested before the performance, I went to her home a couple of times to observe her performance to the song. It was fantastic! She set up the whole idea - which was this....
After our troupe had performed, I told the audience that there was a member of the troupe not present, that perhaps she had forgotten about it and I said her name.....upon which that was her que to enter onto the stage! She intentionally looked confused, she was pushing a chair in front of her.....pretending to need it for balance, she had on a hairnet, and a bathrobe. As she had "orchestrated" and we planned, as soon as I said the word "star" in a conversation with her, she tossed the chair to the back of the stage, the music came on, she whipped off the bathrobe, and the hairnet! She had her dance costume on under the bathrobe. All of us had tears in our eyes watching her because she had shared the story about how she had dreamed of dancing to that song. And the STAR she was indeed!
She brought much joy into my life and the lives of other dancers. I was honored that she invited me to attend her Bot Mitzvah at the Temple in Melrose and she took time to explain why it was so-called.
She was a dear friend - an enlightened wise woman who gave cheerfully of her life's experiences and lessons.
I will keep her and all of her family in my thoughts and prayers.

With love and blessings, Most sincerely, Dorothea O'Regan

Dear Sheryl. Lori, Beth & David and Janet (and the entire family),
I'm so sorry to hear this sad news.
I wish I could have figured out a way to get there today, but sadly I was not able to make that happen.
Even after all this time, I remember your mom and all of you with love and the fondest of memories. Also, the fond memories of our families get together and good friends to my parents & us as adults.
I visited Doreen several years ago, we went out to lunch and had a nice lunch, just like the "old days".
I have thought of her often and about visiting with her again this year and inviting her to be a part the installation a memorial bench installed for "Abe's Market" on the Melrose Commons. I know she'll be with us in spirit.
May her life be a blessing. It was.
I will keep you all in my thoughts after this tremendous loss and sending you lots of love and memories filled with love and happiness.
