Life Story for Pauline Byers (Fishman)

Pauline (Fishman) Byers, 88 of Andover, daughter of the late Stella Fishman and Philip Fishman, formerly of Lawrence died Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Center after a long illness. Pauline was surrounded by her family and friends at the time of her demise.
Polly was born and raised in Lawrence, and lived in Lawrence for over 70 years before moving to Andover. She worked as a legal secretary for Daniel Kiley for more than 25 year. She also worked for many years for Elder Services, and in the WIK Program of the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council. She was also an active member of the Greater Lawrence Legal Secretaries, Hadassah and Temple Emanuel of Andover. Anyone recalling Polly remembers her ever present smile and niceness. Her love of the law and encouragement caused both of her sons to attend law school.
Pauline Byers, better known as Polly to the world, was the devoted wife for 28 years to the late William R. Byers. She was the loving and generous daughter to her much beloved mother Stella Fishman until Stella’s death in 1975. She was the beloved mother of Harry M. and his wife Karen B. Byers and Philip J. and his wife Linda Ansaldi-Byers; Pauline was also the cherished grandmother of Weslie and Dr. Craig Surman, David Byers and his spouse Stephen Vider, Jennifer and her husband Kevin Hayden, William and Marissa Byers, Stephen and Allison Byers, Crystal Murphy and Kaileigh Murphy-West. Pauline was also the proud great grandmother of Lilah and Evie Surman, Thomas Robert Hayden and Amberly Rose Chiefallo. Pauline was also the lifelong friend of Norma Halpern and Aida Katz. Finally, Pauline was dear sister of the late Harry F. Fishman, who she loved dearly. Harry was killed in action in Germany during the closing weeks of World War II .
ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road (off Route 133) Andover on Sunday September 30 at 2:00PM. Interment in Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made following the interment at Temple Emanuel until 6PM only.
