Condolence: Bernie was a fellow hiker and led several 2-week trips in which I participated in 1999 and 2000. At that time I was 53 and Bernie was far faster than I. I quote him often on hikes when we get to a beautiful vista and I sigh, "these are the views we have to put up with." He made VHS tapes of each trip which I watch from time to time and will keep forever. I will always be able to hear his narration and his voice saying at the end of the video, "Remember, in life as in the mountains, always look up." My condolences to Yana and the family. Bernie was a special guy who I obviously have not forgotten.

My deepest condolences on your loss. I got to know Berni as soon as I arrived at Lowell Tech in 1970. I will always remember his warm smile, his lively spirit, and his devotion to Lowell students.

Condolence: Dear Yana,Mark,Stevi Ann,Judy and other family members. Hard to find the right words for Bernie, but memories go back a long time into the scouting days and having all of you sitting with us back at Beth-El. Certainly the families were friends for years, and all of you offered comfort for my Mom and at other family events. May your own memories light the difficult path ahead and give you comfort, and know that I am sure I can speak for all of us in saying our thoughts are with you.
